Gynaecology and Obstetrician at Parkway East Medical Centre, Singapore

Asian Obstetrics & Gynaecology Centre (AOGC) is a specialist obstetrics and gynaecology practice at Parkway East Medical Centre, 319 Joo Chiat Place, in eastern Singapore.

The clinic provides pregnancy care, gynaecological assessment, fertility review and preventive screening for women across Katong, Joo Chiat, Marine Parade and the wider east.

Consultations follow a structured clinical process: history taking, examination where appropriate, investigation only where indicated, and a clear explanation of what the findings mean. Whether you are planning a pregnancy, managing a gynaecological symptom or attending for routine screening, a consultation with a registered specialist is a reasonable place to begin.

About Our Parkway East Clinic

AOGC is a private obstetrics and gynaecology practice consulting from two Singapore locations. The Parkway East clinic exists to serve patients in the east who would otherwise travel across the island for specialist women’s health care.

Being located inside a medical centre matters for practical reasons. Consultation, ultrasound where clinically indicated, screening and follow up all take place at one address, close to where many of our patients live and work. For a condition that needs monitoring over months rather than resolving in a single visit, that convenience is not a small thing.

Parkway East Medical Centre sits alongside Parkway East Hospital at 321 Joo Chiat Place, a private acute hospital with operating theatres, delivery suites, a neonatal intensive care unit and a 24 hour urgent care centre. Where your care requires a procedure, a delivery or admission, your clinician will explain which hospital is appropriate for your circumstances and how that pathway works.

Patients who find central Singapore more convenient can consult at our Gleneagles Medical Centre clinic.

What Our Parkway East Clinic Does

Asian Obstetrics & Gynaecology Centre (AOGC) at Parkway East Medical Centre provides specialist obstetric and gynaecological care, including pregnancy care from pre-conception through postnatal follow-up, assessment and management of gynaecological conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, PMOS (formerly PCOS) and menopausal symptoms, preventive women’s health services including cervical screening and HPV vaccination, as well as fertility and pelvic floor assessment. Where clinically appropriate, surgical treatment is planned during consultation and performed at the hospital, while many conditions can be managed through monitoring or medical treatment.

A first consultation focuses on assessment and discussing suitable management options based on your individual needs.

Why Patients Come to Our Parkway East Clinic

For most, the reason is straightforward: the clinic is in the east, and specialist women’s health care usually is not.

Patients travelling from Katong, Joo Chiat, Marine Parade, Siglap, Bedok or Eunos reach the clinic without crossing the island. A car park operates on site, and bus services stop directly outside on Joo Chiat Place.

Beyond location, three things tend to matter to the people who consult here.

  • One address for the whole episode of care. Consultation, ultrasound where clinically indicated, screening and follow-up all take place at Parkway East Medical Centre. For a condition that needs reviewing over several months rather than resolving in a single visit, that removes a good deal of friction.
  • Ultrasound at the clinic. Where a scan is clinically indicated, it can often be carried out during the same visit, which may spare you a separate appointment elsewhere.
  • Continuity with one practice. When the same practice has followed your history, new symptoms can be read against what came before, and you are not reconstructing years of medical history at every visit.
  • Patients whose circumstances or workplace make central Singapore easier can consult at our Gleneagles Medical Centre clinic instead.

How the Clinic Relates to Parkway East Medical Centre and Gleneagles

AOGC occupies a consultation suite at #03-06 within Parkway East Medical Centre, 319 Joo Chiat Place. The medical centre houses specialist practices across a range of disciplines, and AOGC is one of them. The clinic is an independent practice rather than a hospital department.

The medical centre sits alongside Parkway East Hospital at 321 Joo Chiat Place, a private acute hospital with operating theatres, delivery suites, a neonatal intensive care unit and a 24 hour urgent care centre. The two are adjacent but separate buildings with separate postcodes, which is worth knowing when setting a taxi destination.

AOGC also consults at Gleneagles Medical Centre, 6 Napier Road #04-08, in central Singapore. The two clinics are one practice at two addresses, so records and continuity of care carry across between them. Dr Harvard Lin is listed as a specialist with Gleneagles Hospital, and both Gleneagles Hospital and Parkway East Hospital form part of the Parkway hospital network.

Where your care requires a procedure, a delivery or admission, your clinician will explain which hospital is appropriate for your circumstances and how that pathway works.

Services Available at This Location

Suitability for any assessment or procedure described below depends on individual clinical assessment. Each summary links to fuller information.

Obstetrics and Pregnancy Care

For women planning a pregnancy, currently pregnant, or recovering after birth.

Care covers pre-conception review, scheduled antenatal consultations, growth and dating scans, foetal anatomy assessment and postnatal review. A first antenatal visit typically involves confirming gestation, reviewing your medical and obstetric history, and setting out a monitoring schedule appropriate to your circumstances.

First trimester screening options, including OSCAR and non-invasive prenatal testing, are discussed where clinically indicated. Screening is a choice rather than a requirement, and your clinician will explain what each test can and cannot tell you before you decide.

Read more about pregnancy and obstetrics care, pre-conception counselling and fertility screening, and pregnancy care and birth planning.

High-Risk Pregnancy Assessment

Some pregnancies warrant closer monitoring than a routine pathway. Gestational hypertension or diabetes, pre-eclampsia, advanced maternal age, previous pregnancy complications, multiple gestation, or a pre-existing medical condition may each place a pregnancy in a higher-risk category.

Where this applies, your clinician will explain what the designation means for your specific care plan and what each stage of monitoring involves. A higher-risk category describes a monitoring approach rather than a predicted outcome. Where a screening result or clinical finding warrants it, diagnostic testing such as amniocentesis may be discussed with you.

General Gynaecology

Assessment of menstrual concerns, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, menopausal symptoms and abnormal cervical screening results. Assessment usually combines symptom history, examination where appropriate, and imaging or blood tests where clinically indicated.

Read more about our gynaecological screening services, menstrual-related conditions and pelvic pain assessment.

Women’s Health and Preventive Screening

Cervical screening in Singapore follows Ministry of Health guidance: a Pap smear every three years for women aged 25 to 29, and an HPV test every five years from age 30. Screening is designed to detect cellular changes before symptoms develop, which is why attending remains valuable even when you feel well.

The clinic also provides pelvic examination, HPV vaccination for eligible individuals and well-woman review. Contraception and family planning advice is available, including longer-term options such as tubal ligation. Your clinician will advise on the schedule appropriate to your age and screening history.

Read more about Pap smear and pelvic examination and our preventive screening services.

Fertility and Reproductive Health

A fertility assessment provides an objective picture of your reproductive health. It typically includes a review of menstrual and reproductive history, hormonal blood tests such as AMH, FSH, LH and thyroid function where indicated, and a pelvic ultrasound to assess ovarian reserve and uterine structure.

Findings are explained at a dedicated follow-up consultation. Depending on the results, that discussion may cover lifestyle factors, referral for assisted reproductive treatment, or reassurance that no intervention is required at present.

Please note that AOGC provides fertility assessment and investigation. Assisted reproductive treatment such as IVF is not performed at this clinic. Where it is appropriate, your clinician will discuss referral with you.

Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery

Where surgery is clinically indicated, a laparoscopic approach uses small incisions and a camera to allow the surgeon to assess and treat the pelvic organs directly. Compared with open surgery, it is generally associated with smaller incisions, a shorter hospital stay and a shorter recovery for most patients.

Procedures that may be discussed at consultation include ovarian cystectomy, myomectomy, endometriosis surgery, hysteroscopy and hysterectomy. For selected cases, a single-incision approach may be considered where clinically appropriate.

Two points are worth stating plainly. Not every condition requires surgery, and many are managed with monitoring or medical treatment alone. Where an operation is appropriate, it takes place in a hospital operating theatre rather than in the outpatient consultation suite. Risks, benefits and alternatives are discussed with you before any decision is made.

Read more about minimally invasive keyhole surgery, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, myomectomy and hysterectomy.

Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Assessment

Urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and voiding difficulty are common and treatable, and they are entirely appropriate concerns to raise with a specialist. Many women wait years before doing so.

Assessment identifies the nature and severity of the problem and informs a discussion of the options, which may range from pelvic floor rehabilitation and lifestyle measures through to surgical repair in selected cases.

Read more about pelvic floor reconstruction and uterine prolapse.

Diagnostic Facilities at This Clinic

Pelvic and obstetric ultrasound is available at the clinic. Ultrasound provides real-time imaging of the uterus and ovaries and forms a routine part of many initial gynaecological and antenatal consultations.

The clinic also provides examination facilities for pelvic examination and cervical screening, with specimens sent to an accredited laboratory. Blood tests are taken at the clinic or arranged through a referral pathway.

Where a scan is clinically indicated, it can often be carried out during the same visit. This depends on the nature of your concern and on appointment availability, so please do not assume it when planning your day. If further imaging is required beyond what the clinic provides, your clinician will arrange it and explain the reason.

Conditions Commonly Assessed

The summaries below are general information. Symptoms overlap considerably between these conditions, and none of them can be diagnosed from a description alone.

Uterine Fibroids

Non-cancerous growths in or around the uterine wall. Symptoms depend on size, number and position, and range from heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pressure through to no symptoms at all. Assessment involves history, examination and pelvic ultrasound. Many fibroids require monitoring rather than treatment.

Endometriosis

Tissue similar to the uterine lining growing outside the uterus. It may cause pelvic pain, painful or heavy periods, pain during intercourse, and can contribute to subfertility. Diagnosis may be clinical, supported by imaging, or confirmed at laparoscopy. Management is shaped by your symptoms and your reproductive plans. Where disease is extensive, deep infiltrating endometriosis surgery may be discussed.

Ovarian Cysts

Fluid-filled sacs on or within an ovary. Most resolve without intervention. Certain types, sizes or associated symptoms warrant assessment, including to distinguish a simple cyst from other ovarian growths. Scan findings are reviewed alongside your wider clinical picture before anything is recommended.

Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), formerly known as PCOS

A hormonal condition involving irregular ovulation, raised androgen levels and multiple small ovarian follicles on ultrasound. It is a common cause of irregular periods and subfertility. Assessment combines hormonal blood tests, pelvic ultrasound and a review of symptoms.

Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain has a wide differential diagnosis. Gynaecological, urinary, bowel and musculoskeletal causes can present in similar ways. Assessment focuses on identifying the cause before any treatment is considered.

Irregular or Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

Possible causes include structural changes such as fibroids or polyps, hormonal imbalance, or changes in the uterine lining. Assessment typically involves history, examination, pelvic ultrasound and blood tests.

Abnormal Cervical Screening Results

An abnormal result does not mean cancer. It means cellular changes have been found that warrant a closer look. Follow-up may include repeat testing, HPV typing or colposcopy, depending on the result and your screening history.
Read more about Pap smear and pelvic examination and colposcopy

Menopausal Symptoms

Hot flushes, night sweats, disturbed sleep, mood changes and genitourinary symptoms. Where symptoms affect daily life, assessment determines which management options are suitable and safe for your individual health profile. Treatment appropriate for one woman may be unsuitable for another.
Read more about menopause management

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Descent of the uterus, bladder or bowel into the vagina, often causing a sensation of heaviness or a bulge, and sometimes urinary or bowel symptoms. Assessment grades the severity and identifies which structures are involved.
Read more about uterine prolapse

Urinary Incontinence

Leakage on coughing, laughing or exertion, known as stress incontinence, or leakage associated with sudden urgency, known as urge incontinence. The two respond to different management, so assessment focuses first on distinguishing between them.

What to Expect at Your First Consultation

A first specialist appointment is an assessment. It does not commit you to any treatment.

  • Medical and symptom history. Your menstrual and reproductive history, previous investigations or procedures, current medications, relevant family history, and the symptoms that brought you in.
  • Review of previous reports. Any scans, blood tests or letters you bring with you.
  • Examination where appropriate. An abdominal or pelvic examination, depending on your concern. Not every consultation requires one, and you will be told what is proposed and why before anything happens.
  • Investigations where indicated. A pelvic ultrasound, blood tests, or cervical screening if relevant.
  • Discussion of findings. What was found, and what it means, explained in plain terms.
  • Explanation of options. Including the option of taking no further action at this stage, where that is reasonable.
  • Follow-up or onward referral. Arranged where needed.

Which of these steps apply depends entirely on your circumstances. You will not be pressed towards a decision during a first visit. The purpose of the consultation is to give you the information you need to decide in your own time.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

One note on symptom history. If you have been tracking dates, bleeding patterns or pain, please bring it. It is consistently more useful than trying to reconstruct several months from memory in the consultation room.
